USA Cycling is the official cycling organization recognized by the USOC and is responsible for identifying, training and selecting cyclists to represent the United States in international competitions. USA Cycling, doing business as the USCF, NORBA, NCCA and USPRO, controls nearly two dozen major events each year and issues permits for up to 3,000 more.

The Columbia University Cycling Team is a club sport offered to both men and women who are full time students of the university and its affiliates. The team is operated and managed by the club's members under the supervision of Columbia University's Club Sports Program and is not governed by the NCAA, but by the National Collegiate Cycling Association (NCCA). All collegiate cycling teams and the NCCA are overseen by USA Cycling , the national cycling federation.
